The Puritans share many of the same dominant values as we have today, but i think the one that we share the most is our directness, openness and honesty. Americans are very blunt and tend to be very honest with out feelings. Puritans were also very open and honest about there feelings towards The Indians, people who broke the rules of their religion, and their feelings about the Church of England. The Puritans didn't like the people who didn't agree with their religion, and they would come right out and tell them, and then banish them. They did the same thing with the Indians. They didn't like the Church of England, and told them so by protesting, breaking laws, and starting religious wars. Instead of trying to sugar-coat their feelings, or act reasonably before they took greater measures, the puritans just went for it. They were very open about their feelings and expressed them in extreme ways. Today, Americans do the same thing. For example, Kanye West telling the world his opinion on George Bush's opinion of black people. Also, how if we don't like the way a country is governing themselves, we just storm in and change it ourselves. We don't try and hide our feelings or stay out of it, we jump right in and say and do what wee think, just like the Puritan people.
