Puritans

I think a dominant American value that the Puritans showed was honesty and directness for many reasons. The Puritans straight up said that they were not going to conform to the Church of England. The Puritans had many reasons why they were against the church and were often open about what they thought. They also showed honesty and directness by telling all the citizens in the town if they are not going to take their religion seriously than they are going to be banished. The directness they showed was a zero tolerance policy on having different beliefs and pretty much having any fun at all.
