Quakers - Change

Change was a very big value during the Quaker period. The reason why there were Quakers is because there were a group of people who wanted change. From what we learned you could be one of two things. You could be a puritan or be part of the Church of England. Many people didn’t like how either of these types of communities were being run so they decided to make a change in their lives. A new community was developed, Quakers. Once a new settlement was established many changes or new ideas were brought forward. For instance everyone was able to believe in his or her own religion. Also something very different to the old culture would be the fact that the Quakers were nice to the Indians. They worked with the Indians in trades and made transactions for land. People became Quakers because they wanted change in their world that’s why change is one of the dominant American values for the Quakers.
