Quakers- American Dominant Values
The Quakers were the people that broke away from the Church of England to start a colony that stressed religious tolerance. In their colonies, they began a new concept of equality and egalitarianism. The Quakers treated all races equally and the women had more rights than in the Puritan society. In Pennsylvania, all men had an equal amount of land. Also, people were invited from all over Europe to come to Pennsylvania and start a new life of equality and religious freedom. These are both examples of how the Quakers made everyone equal. In America today, women have the same rights as men and there is religious freedom. Without the Quakers, who would have brought religious tolerance to America?
